Since its inception in 1994, the Environmental Justice Small Grants (EJSG) Program has awarded more than $29 million in funding to over 1400 community-based organizations, tribal governments, and Native American organizations working with communities facing environmental justice issues.
The Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving (EJCPS) Cooperative Agreement Program provides financial assistance to eligible organizations working on or planning to work on projects to address local environmental and/or public health issues in their communities. The program assists recipients in building collaborative partnerships with other stakeholders (e.g., local businesses and industry, local government, medical service providers, academia, etc.) to develop solutions that will significantly address environmental and/or public health issue(s) at the local level.
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Division of Water Resources (DWR) is soliciting proposals for Clean Water Act-Section 319 (h) Nonpoint Source Grant Funding for Fiscal Year 2021 for projects that implement a DWR-approved watershed restoration plan to restore the water quality of waters impaired by nonpoint source (NPS) pollution. DWR anticipates that approximately $1.3 million in federal funds may be available for water quality restoration projects.
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) is soliciting proposals to expand and enhance longleaf pine ecosystem restoration and management across longleaf pine’s historical range, as well as the restoration and enhancement of bottomland hardwood forests within priority focal areas. The Longleaf Landscape Stewardship Fund is a public-private partnership supported with Federal funding from USDA’s Forest Service (USFS) and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), the U.S.

Restore America’s Estuaries is pleased to announce the 2022 funding cycle for the National Estuary Program – Coastal Watershed Grants. This year, in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, we will award approximately $1 million in competitive grants to organizations, partnerships, and municipalities working to improve clean water, healthy ecosystems, and habitat restoration. The North Carolina Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI), along with the U.S. Geological Survey 104(b) program, is requesting faculty pre-proposals and student full proposals for 2021-2022 water resources research and information-transfer projects. Faculty pre-proposals are due Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at 5 p.m. Student full proposals are due Monday, July 13, 2020. Faculty may apply for one- or two-year projects and students may apply for one-year projects.

NC Attorney General Josh Stein is pleased to announce the 2020 Environmental Enhancement Grant (EEG) Request for Proposals (RFP). The EEG Program offers reimbursement grants for projects that meet the goals of the Smithfield Agreement, including obtaining environmental easements, constructing or maintaining wetlands, restoring and protecting impaired, degraded, or endangered surface waters, as well as conserving and protecting targeted natural areas.
DWR is seeking proposals for award of federal fiscal year 2020 319(h) grant funds to implement watershed restoration plans that will help restore waters impaired by nonpoint sources of pollution. For FY 2020, NC expects to receive $1.3 Million from the USEPA for competitive funding of watershed restoration projects under Section 319(h) of the Clean Water Act. DWR will accept applications for FY2020 319 funding until May 4, 2020.
