NC Attorney General Josh Stein is pleased to announce the 2020 Environmental Enhancement Grant (EEG) Request for Proposals (RFP). The EEG Program offers reimbursement grants for projects that meet the goals of the Smithfield Agreement, including obtaining environmental easements, constructing or maintaining wetlands, restoring and protecting impaired, degraded, or endangered surface waters, as well as conserving and protecting targeted natural areas. The program provides grants to non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and governmental entities to preserve and enhance North Carolina’s natural resources. Grant awards are between $5,000 to $500,000.
Letters of Intent are due April 21, 2020 and final proposals are due May 28, 2020 at 11 am. Substantive changes to this year’s RFP include:
- An indirect cost rate policy capping indirect costs at 15%
- A simplified process for grant proposals requesting $50,000 or less
- Clarified and streamlined organizational documentation required
- Further guidance for organizations submitting multiple proposals
- Optional inclusion of photos or maps, letters of support are now optional and capped at 3 letters
