The Pisces Foundation is excited to announce a new funding opportunity designed to strengthen and build the capacity and cultural relevance of environmental education at scale, recognizing that when kids gain the environmental know-how they need to thrive in our rapidly changing world, we’ll see smarter decisions, stronger communities, and daily actions that improve their well-being and our planet. Pisces is now accepting project inquiries for a round of grants that will range in amount from approximately $5,000 up to $150,000 for a 12-month period.
North Carolina Sea Grant has a special program to fund research proposals designed to meet key needs identified by state agencies that manage natural resources.

The topics in each request for proposals will be selected through discussions with directors of various agencies, review of the state’s Coastal Habitat Protection Plan, and consideration of the Sea Grant funding available in a given year.

NOAA Fisheries announces the FY20 Saltonstall-Kennedy Federal Funding Opportunity and invites applicants to submit pre-proposals by July 30, 2019. This year, the priority focus areas are: 1) Promotion, Development, and Marketing and 2) Science or Technology that Promotes Sustainable U.S.
The Atlantic Coastal Fish Habitat Partnership (ACFHP) is requesting project applications to restore and conserve habitat necessary to support coastal, estuarine-dependent, and diadromous fish species along the U.S. Atlantic Coast. Federal funding available under the National Fish Habitat Action Plan (NFHAP) will be used to support the top ranked proposals.
The request is for projects that restore, increase, and strengthen natural infrastructure — the landscapes that help absorb the impacts of storms and floods — to ultimately protect coastal communities and enhance fish and wildlife habitat. In 2018, the fund provided $28.9 million for the restoration or expansion of natural features such as coastal marshes and wetlands, dune and beach systems, oyster and coral reefs, mangroves, coastal forests, coastal rivers, and barrier islands.
After a year of record-setting weather events – from tornadoes and flooding to ice storms and hurricanes – these grants will help North Carolina communities increase their resiliency to these major weather events through advanced preparation and planning.
