Dean Carpenter
Dr. Dean Carpenter joined APNEP in 2003. As APNEP’s Program Scientist, Dean’s current responsibilities are coordinating and administering APNEP’s Science & Technology Initiative, including the facilitation of APNEP’s Science & Technical Advisory Committee and multiple Monitoring & Assessment Teams. Prior to joining APNEP, Dean served as a project manager for the Water Environment Research Foundation and as an environmental scientist with ManTech Environmental Technology, supporting initiatives within the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research & Development.
His career interests are improving ecological risk assessment methods at regional scales and facilitating their application in support of ecosystem-based management. Dean holds a B.S. with Honors in Environmental Science and Biology from the University of California, Riverside; an M.S. in Ecology from the University of California, Davis; and a D.Env. in Environmental Sciences and Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.
