Career Experiences: Jacob Hochard is an applied natural resource economist. His work, highly interdisciplinary in nature, combines geospatial analysis, mathematical modeling and empirical analysis to examine feedback between natural and human systems. Recent work has examined the management of a recovering red wolf population in eastern North Carolina, storm protection services generated by mangrove forests and measuring the value of North Carolina’s beachfronts as a critical source of natural capital for the state. Hochard has received funding from the Environmental Protection Agency, Oak Ridge Affiliated Universities and Center for Behavioral and Experimental Agri-Environmental Research.
