APNEP has participated in numerous Scientific Research and Education Network (SciREN) events since 2014, facilitating the dissemination of APNEP-created lesson plans about our estuarine system to educators across the region.

APNEP supported a Summer Teacher Institute for educators that focuses on estuarine and water quality education. The specific grade level(s) and goals of the program varied and were based on identified needs and gaps in current professional development opportunities for educators in the Albemarle-Pamlico region.

To resolve water-related issues on the northern Albemarle-Pamlico peninsula, local governments and conservation land managers requested the Scuppernong Water Management Study. In this ecologically rich and diverse region, communities surrounding the Scuppernong River have experienced increasingly severe flooding, highlighting the need for updated water management systems.
The TCRC team works to build environmental risk and adaptation planning capacity among Native Nations with ties to the Albemarle-Pamlico region through community-led engagement and to educate non-Native resilience practitioners on best practices for including Tribes in environmental planning initiatives.
